About the exhibition
1991: every evening in the hills of Delion Bigwoods, a small bar becomes the vibrant heart of a village thanks to its sound system: the "Prosperous".
During the day, the land is cultivated there in the heat…. At night, voices rise, bass resonates and farmers become DJs or singers.
Through these images appears a rural, creative and deeply human Jamaica.
Attracted by Jamaican music, I left in 1991 to meet those who gave birth to Reggae Dancehall at the end of the 80s. Destiny led me to Delion Bigwoods in Westmoreland. Through this photographic exhibition, I share an intimate look at a Jamaica experienced from the inside, up close with the inhabitants, sounds and places that have always inspired me.
