About the exhibition

After conquering New York, Chicago, Melbourne and Montreal, the exhibition Africa Fashion, designed by the Victoria and Albert Museum of London, arrives in Paris and offers a dialogue between contemporary African fashion and the rich historical collections of the Musée du quai Branly – Jacques Chirac.

Through a captivating and colourful journey, the exhibition celebrates the fulgurant rise of the African scene, carried by a new generation of daring creators. Between traditional know-how and stylistic innovation, their creations tell a plural, connected, proud and forward-looking Africa.

Africa Fashion reveals the cross-influences, personal stories and artists' commitments that redefine fashion codes. Lagos, Dakar or Johannesburg are now joining Paris or Milan in international circuits. The exhibition offers a unique dive into this aesthetic and cultural revolution, revealing an overflowing creativity, long on the margins of the dominant narratives.

For the occasion, the museum highlights its rich collection of African textiles, accessories and jewellery rarely exhibited, as well as a selection of photographs from its archives and collected from the public, offering a dialogue between past and present.
