About the exhibition

The exhibition Eloge du trait takes as its starting point the poem Adventures of Lines by the writer Henri Michaux, written from the discovery of a painting by Paul Klee. The poet captures the movement and musicality of the line, in its emergence which is both fragile and ephemeral. This attention to the line as a primary gesture, to this fragile moment when a line begins to exist, gives life to the entire exhibition.

Bringing together drawings, but also photographs, videos, sculptures and installations, the exhibition explores the way in which the line, in varied forms and mediums, becomes a vector of energy, rhythm and structure.

Through a selection of works from the agnès b. collection, the journey highlights practices where the line, freed from any descriptive function, engages the body, organizes space and reveals a sensitive and interior dimension. From the most minimal outline to its deployments in space, the line appears as a shared visual language, capable of articulating the visible and opening up to a plurality of interpretations.

The Fab. :

Founded in 2020 by agnès b. — stylist, patron, gallery owner and collector — La Fab. embodies the unique perspective of a committed actress in the contemporary art scene. Resolutely open to the plurality of practices, it aims to be a place of welcome and discovery where works interact freely, freed from any stylistic or academic hierarchy, thus offering the public an aesthetic experience that is both demanding and decompartmentalized.

The agnès b. collection

The collection created by agnès b. unfolds like a protean and constantly changing ensemble, bringing together photographs, drawings, paintings, sculptures, installations, sound works and videos. Through a thematic exhibition program, La Fab. offers a renewed reading, highlighting the singularity and richness of this atypical ensemble, patiently put together for more than forty years.
