The Musée national Picasso-Paris will present an exhibition dedicated to Henry Taylor, one of the major figures of contemporary American painting. This exhibition, designed with the artist himself, will embrace his entire artistic trajectory while continuing to explore the reception of Pablo Picasso on the American scene — following the exhibitions devoted to Faith Ringgold (2023), Jackson Pollock (2024) or Philip Guston (2025), and before the major retrospective devoted to the Harlem Renaissance movement (spring 2027).

About the exhibition

The exhibition, spread over two floors and thirteen rooms, brings together around a hundred works — paintings, sculptures, installations — through which Henry Taylor explores the richness and complexity of the human experience. Whether they are friends, relatives, anonymous people or public figures, his compositions offer a lively and deeply human vision of our time. Taylor creates original, expressive and plastic work, powerful - he weaves visual stories that mix individual trajectories and collective realities, combining personal experiences, shared memory and dialogues with the history of art. His rereadings of inspiring works of art, notably those of David Hammons, Philip Guston and Pablo Picasso, show the way in which Taylor seizes the past to reinvent the present.

Henry Taylor has been the subject of numerous exhibitions in the United States and abroad, including a large retrospective at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles in 2022, then at the Whitney Museum in New York in 2023. His works are included in leading public collections, notably at the Studio Museum in Harlem in New York, at the MET and at MoMA. This exhibition at the Musée national Picasso-Paris is the artist's first retrospective in France.
