About the exhibition

In 1974, after putting an end to the cycle of L'Hourloupe, Jean Dubuffet, then over 70 years old, began a new chapter in his creation. Over the course of ten years of intense production, he explored new visual paths, navigating freely between figuration and non-figuration.

Between 1974 and 1985, he produced more than 1,500 paintings and 1,000 drawings, organized into around twenty series. This late period testifies to the freedom of gesture and the constant audacity which characterizes Jean Dubuffet's practice.
