Repairing the Living is a project that gives voice to women who have suffered sexual mutilation, while highlighting the paths of repair and resilience. Supported by the association Réparons l’excision, the photographic and sound exhibition is produced by photographer Élodie Ratsimbazafy and sound documentarian Karine Le Loët.

About the exhibition
This exhibition recounts the journey of reconstruction - physical, sexual, social and psychological - of women victims of excision through an immersive report within the multidisciplinary care unit for women victims of female genital mutilation at the Montreuil hospital (Seine-Saint-Denis)
Nearly 230 million girls and women (UNICEF 2024 figures) around the world have undergone mutilation female genitalia, and nearly 4 million young girls are still threatened each year. In France too, thousands of women live with the consequences of this violence, making their care a real public health issue.
The exhibition will be presented jointly at the Maison des Réfugiés, at the James Baldwin media library and on the square from July 2 to September 1, 2026.
