About the exhibition

Book

The sisters Jacob, Denise, Simone and Madeleine, known as “Milou”, grew up in Nice, surrounded by a loving mother, Yvonne, a dear brother, Jean, and a father, André, an architect and Republican. They go through their childhood and adolescence in a cocoon, cradled by the beauty and gentleness of the Mediterranean. The defeat of France and collaboration plunge the Jacob family into poverty and persecution, until deportation. Drawing on correspondence and family archives, this graphic choral story recounts in unison the lives of these three sisters with exceptional temperaments, the immense tenderness that united them, and their inexhaustible courage.
